What makes you join a forum?

I mainly look to see how active it is. Also a nice looking theme that's different from the default theme keeps me coming back too. Once activity ceases is when I usually call it quits on a forum. Or if I need to take a break from visiting forums for a bit. (Sometimes I take breaks and then return later.)

Pretty much what @Sonikku1011 said but I really need a purpose to join as well. Even if the community is super amazing, I don't join it if I don't have a purpose there.

A good amount of activity, a nice website layout/theme, and the purpose of the forum.

Usually it's when I'm interested in the subject matter or know people there.

A forum that makes me join is a forum with a nice community, a nice niche, and a forum that discusses content that I can relate to and discuss myself. What makes me stay is formed relationships with users on the forum and being in a good atmosphere. What makes me leave is basically the opposite of what makes me stay. If the community is toxic or has some toxic members I may leave, if I can't get to know specific users more and form relationships then I might leave, and if the community is inactive and content isn't added too often, I may leave.

Oh I really forgot. The primary reason I join a forum is when I know someone there. I rarely join a forum that I don't know anyone from. It's a weird i admit.

The people, if they are worth being apart of.
What makes me stay is if there is anything worth talking about, if the members are happy, or if they have new ideas which help everyone out in the end.

Nowadays I tend to join forums that are active and run on the forum scripts that I like. If I like the niche and the forum seems active, I'll usually decide to join it.
The community makes me stay.
An unfair staff team and a chaotic atmosphere are generally the things that makes me leave an online community.

I join a forum whenever I like the people running. Obviously the forum niche is very important to me. It makes me to stay longer when there are members posting, especially sensible ones and not just spam. What makes me leave a forum is when there are members that are "rude" and "too domineering in terms of bad attitude." I really hate that one. I have left one forum because of that. @skouliki knows that. Very Happy

I also leave a forum when it is invaded with spambots.

oh yes !! that was beyond rude..anyway i enjoy being in a forum to relax to chat with different people
If i can i visit every day the forums iam register just to keep up with things

Active members, good staff, and members that aren't mean are things that make me want to join a forum.

If a forum has a bad rep, and the people have a lot of drama going on, I usually leave.

I stay on a forum if there is a considerable amount of activity on both staff and members. I don't mind if I don't know anyone in the forum. As long as there is a warm and friendly atmosphere, I'll surely stay.
