Money put aside?

Do you usually put a bit of money to the side to buy things like a theme, software, domain and hosting? Maybe not all of things but do you usually set a budget when you start a project?

I usually don't myself, though usually when I first start a project I tend to go the free route and depending on how well my project does, I then will probably start putting money aside to pay for hosting or a theme.

Hmm...you say you go free and then to hosting. When you say free do you mean you go to a free forum host such as Zetaboard, forumotion or do you go to free web hosting?

It depends on my mood actually. Sometimes I wish to have my forum hosted on a platform such as Forumotion, other times I like to use free hosting such as x10 host. I know free hosting is usually looked down upon, but sometimes people just don't have the money to buy a host. :\ It also depends on what features a free host has, Forumotion is great since they allow quite a bit of flexibility, unlike other hosts which may limit what templates you can edit, who can see ads, etc.

Free web hosting is sketchy to me sometimes...it's not that it's a horrible idea just ick...haha again my opinion.

Though i do agree there are some really good forum hosts out there.

Just like Soni, I ususually purchase a domain name if I know a project will go well and I will settle for a free Web hosting like x10host. If I have more traffic and need a larger server I will look into upgrading a larger server. If I am using like less than half on a free server why pay for extra place you do not need at the moment?

If I have to save for things for my forum, I have to take surveys to get the money. I don't earn then put it back, I usually just earn it all when I and if I need it.

I think I don't have the capacity to spend on a forum that I'll be making. I will always start with something for free and look into it if it is worth spending some $$$ with.
