Other means of forum promotion?

Aside from posting in SNS and promotion forums, what other means of forum promotion have you done/will you do to promote your site? If you did, was it effective? Please share them here, so other webmasters can try it too. Very Happy

Promoting through social media can almost guarantee a slight increase in traffic on your forum. Social media is used across the world. Not many people are signed up on promotion forums, where most people advertise. A huge population of people on social media might not even know what forums even are. Advertising on social media may attract people new to your forum, who share the same interest as your forum covers. Social media promotion has no down side, many people may discover your tweet or your post and visit your forum to check it out for themselves.

I have tried social media way back in advertising my discussion board but I did not see it helping out. Maybe it's due to the advertisement I made (not that inviting). However, do we have people here who have advertised their forums through radio stations, may it be online or not? I have tried it way back, and with at least three repetitions of the advertisement per day, it somehow attracted members (I managed to advertise in the radio because I have a friend who was a DJ and added the link of my forum to her ad libs).

YouTube videos might be a good means of promoting your forum. Make a video in which you talk about your forum. If you can make the video interesting through video editing, and add a link to your forum in the video description, you might get some new members.

You have good suggestions out there, but it seems difficult for me to employ those other types of forum promotion. The forum I have in mind isn't that worthy of radio advertisements or Youtube video ads. But I'll put them in mind whenever I change mine.

I have tried advertising on youtube and facebook but it has not been effective. It didn't bring much attention to my forum at all. Unfortunately most people on social media don't even know what forums are and aren't interested in learning. I have found the most effective way to advertise is to advertise in your signature on other similar forums, and make good posts there so people are encouraged to visit your forum.

If you are using social media, you have to try to target people who are interested in the subject matter that you have on your forum. At least, that's what I try to do.
