How long does it take you to set-up?

Hey guys.

I'm currently creating a forum, and i was wondering how long it took you guys to get it all set-up before getting members? Also, should you keep back some ideas to do updates in the future to keep interest, or just put in your ideas as you think of them?

In the past for me it has taken anywhere from a couple of hours to a few days it just all depends on what you want to put in place and how you'd like to have your forum before launch Smile

Also, while keeping idea's on the back burner for future updates is a good idea, you don't want to hold back anything that may keep your forum from standing out Wink

Okay. I like to have posts and topics in every section before I start. But, I take a bit longer than a few days actually. If I had free time for a while, I could do it more quickly, but I want to be thorough.

I tend to take my time when setting up. I try to come up with creative sub forum names and descriptions as I go. I also try to map out the category order. I usually tend to put the more important sub forums first, but depending on the niche of my forum it can be a bit difficult to come up with a good order. Also it takes a bit for me to work on a banner and find a theme that is easy on the eyes and matches the niche of the forum too. After getting a theme and the forum is set up in the proper order I want it to be in, I start making topics and creating conversations so that future members can engage in them once they join. This can take me at least a few days or so, depending on my mood and how busy I am too.

For my student forum, it took me one month to complete it (since I was also busy with my work). I tend to add features that I won't like after in the forum.

It took me a few months, but I was tackling school and final exams too. So far I have been still trying to attract members. It takes a while to get a forum jumping activity wise. Just have to keep working at it Smile
