Arcades?

There are some forums I have seen over the years that have put Arcades in place as something to keep users that get bored of posting for a bit and just want to play some fun games. How do you feel about adding an Arcade to your forum?

I'm not sure if it really has a negative impact per-say but a relaxed and clear minded member could generate some nifty posts Wink

It depends on the forum. If it is a gaming forum, I would have an arcade.

I think arcades would be a good addition to a forum. Sometimes, members would brag about their scores with others, no matter how simple the game is. I have seen a forum do this, and it has even boosted its forum activity.

especially if the forum has a board dedicated for arcade discussion Razz

it's usually a pretty good time haha

I haven't really thought about setting up an arcade for my members on my forums, though I might do that soon. Smile

@Sonikku1011 Even if they aren't posting I for awhile while they play some games it sure would help I think with overall activity on the site and possibly encourage more posting after they are relaxed!

It's an idea that seems good in theory but in all honesty I have never played an arcade game on a forum. I get on there to forum, not play arcade games Razz

When I have had arcades on forums for the first few weeks they were used and really got my forum to thrive, but once the games got old and they had all been played it seemed to be abandoned. I would say you should make sure to keep adding games every month or so to keep them fresh Smile

I have seen forums using arcades, and so far, I can see a boost in its activity. I also think that the kind of games installed in the forum matters when we put activity together with it. Games with simple goals but difficult to attain, I think, is one of the many games that can be installed so members will enjoy staying in the forum for a long time.

Since I run a gaming forum I have to have one, but it doesn't get use much since games are everywhere. It doesn't help that online arcades don't offer any good games.

I've thought about adding it to my forum, however, since my forum isn't a gaming forum then I decided not to go ahead with it.
