Does anyone pay their forum staff? I have heard of some bigger forums doing this but I'm not sure how effective this is. Personally, I only hire volunteers who are interested in the forum, and this has worked well for me. What about you? Smile

I have rewarded my staff members with prizes a few times, but paying them on a regular basis is something I can't afford to do. If I would, they would have to really get involved in the community and post every single day.

I haven't yet actually paid people to be staff on my forum, but I have been paid to be staff before. It sure does help with my motivation if I don't particularly like some of the things on the forum.

But generally, I like to give free stuff for my staff, if they are active, like free advertising, ability to change their own ranks, extra signature space, or other things.

If there is such forum that pays their staff with $$$, then I would really apply for the position. In my case, I am only paid with a forum currency. Well, there was one instance when the forum I am a staff on gave away 5000 credits to all of its staff.

We pay our service teams in forum currency, currently.

One time I did a search online for paid moderator positions, and actually did find a number of companies that were looking for moderators for anything from moderating company social accounts, to the companies forums. A few of them mentioned you needed to move to where they were located to hold the job, and a couple others said you can do the job at home.

I hire volunteers and they are paid with our forum currency. Though, they don't really use it, so it's kinda pointless.

I only hire volunteers for my forum since I don't really have the ability to pay them actual $$$.

Now, the staff do certain perks. For instance, they get to advertise their site in the "affiliate banner" for free on the forum.

i think you could pay them if your forum has crazy amount of members online per day
liek 500+ or something
other than that
just pay them with premium features and forum money

Sort of. Staff are paid through our raffle system, in which they're given a monthly discretionary fund to spend on transferring to other members for whatever reasons they wish. However their tickets don't count towards the cash drawings at the end of each month.
